Rice University

Iā€™m currently a senior pursuing a Computer Science and Mathematics double major at Rice University. Here, I've served various roles, including
  • Teaching Assistant (CS Department) for the following courses:
    • COMP 140: Computational Thinking (Spring '19, Fall '19)
    • COMP 215: Introduction to Program Design (Fall '20)
    • COMP 621: Systems Software (Spring '21)
    • COMP 614: Programming for Data Science (Fall ā€˜21)
  • CS Club Officer
    • Internal Co-Vice President ('20-'21)
    • Publicist ('19-'20)
  • HackRice 8.5 and HackRice 9 Judging Co-Chair
If you're currently a Rice student and want to chat about anything related to Rice or CS, I'm open to meeting you! I've realized that over the years, I've accumulated a lot of Rice-specific or CS-related information and resources, which would mostly go to waste when I graduate. Similar to how others have helped me before, I want to pay it forward and help guide others towards resources that they might find helpful or insights that they may not realize yet.

High school

In high school, I represented the Philippines in various international math olympiads and won some awards, including
International Math Olympiad
  • 2 Bronze Medals
  • 1 Honorable Mention
Asian Pacific Math Olympiad
  • Bronze medal
China Southeast Math Olympiad
  • Gold medal
Ten Outstanding Young Mathematicians (TOYM) Award in the Philippines (2015)
Since then, my interests have naturally shifted to Computer Science and practical problem-solving, specifically in distributed systems and algorithmic problems. As I dive deeper into this ever-changing field, I find that the critical thinking skills I have gained in math olympiads become increasingly more important in solving real-world challenges!
